Passing your tests

Theory Test

At the moment the theory test comprises of two parts:

1) 50 multiple choice questions covering a range of driving issues, the pass mark is 83% or in other words you must get 43 questions correct. There are various training aids you can use and below are a few ideas.

2) The Hazard Perception Test – on this you will see 14 video clips of moving road scenes as if you were sat behind the wheel driving a car, your job is to spot the hazards, over the 14 clips there are 15 hazards that score. The maximum score for each hazard is 5 so the top score overall is 75, but you can also score zero for a hazard, it all depends how quickly you spot the problem and react to it. Overall you will need to score 44 to pass. Both of these tests are done at the same time and you also need to pass them both at the same time, if you pass one but fail the other you will have to take both again.

The Practical Driving Test

The majority of training you will do for this will obviously be behind the wheel, however, there are a number of training aids which will give you an idea of what will be expected of you and the standard you will need to achieve, for ideas see below.
