Courses available
Your driving lessons will be tailored to suit you and there are a number of different options available to you:
Weekly Lessons
Some people prefer to learn gradually over a period of time, usually a weekly 2 hour driving lesson. The advantage of doing it this way is that you have more time to learn and, if you have the opportunity to do private tuition (with parents, partners, friends etc) you can put into practice what you have learned during your lessons.
Intensive Courses
If you need to get to test standard in a short period of time and find work or other commitments make it difficult for you to learn over a longer period of time, or perhaps you just want to get it done and be on the road as soon as possible, then an intensive course may be the answer. If you have already started driving or have some experience my normal practice would be to do an assessment lesson with you first to decide how much more tuition you will need, this way the course will only be as long as it needs to be.
Semi Intensive Courses
Spending several hours a day in a car over a number of days can be quite hard work, an alternative to doing this is to do semi intensive training, either by breaking up the days so they are not all one after the other or perhaps half days instead of full days of training.
Show and Tell
The Practical Driving Test is always changing and the standard to pass is getting higher all the time, in recent years the ‘Show and Tell’ questions have been introduced in an effort to help new drivers have a better understanding of their vehicle and how to make sure it is both legally road worthy and maintained in such a way that it will be reliable. At the start of your test you will be asked some questions by your examiner on these issues, prior to your test I will give you all the necessary tuition so that you can answer these with confidence.
Pass Plus
This is aimed at newly qualified drivers and is a 6 hour course dealing with the aspects of driving that you may not have experience during your driving lessons, the categories are as follows :
- driving in town
- driving in all weathers
- driving on rural roads
- driving at night
- driving on dual carriageways
- driving on motorways
Completing this course will give you more confidence in dealing with the above areas and can also lead to reduced insurance premiums (usually the saving is considerably more than the cost of the course)
Refresher/Assessment/Advanced/Eco-safe Courses
Maybe you haven’t driven for a while or would like someone to take an objective look at your driving, this could be the course to take your driving on to the next level. It is aimed at increasing your awareness and driving in the safest and most economical way, and as a Fleet Register Trainer I am fully qualified to do this kind of assessment and training.
